Ladies and gentlemen, presenting: (this is truly a milestone) the future world best wildlife photographer's first real wild animal – a California sea lion (
Zalophus californianus)... as well as camera-wielding Taiwanese tourists. Well, not so much the "future world best", but definitely my first really wild animal captured. :)
These shots were taken at La Jolla Cove (as was yesterday's), which lies within the San Diego Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. These cutely clueless little creatures apparently surface here for some tanning every now and then. This one's definitely a baby. Adult male California sea lions could grow up to 300 kg and female ones up to 100 kg.
